Top Reasons People Turn to GeoLogic

Why People Turn to GeoLogic for their Geological Engineering and Mining Projects Ben Black, Principal Geological Engineer and Owner of GeoLogic, reveals the reasons people turn to GeoLogic for their geological engineering and mining projects. Ben: Clients often bring reports to us that other geological engineering or mining companies have produced, and the problem that we often see is the overall work product is substandard; it’s poorly written and overestimates or over-highlights the quantity and quality of mineable material that is available on a project. Typically, the reports or mine plans gloss over key aspects of the project, such as how they’re going to handle overburden and what the actual mine life is going to be. How much material can they actually mine? They usually don’t take into consideration the overburden storage. How are they going to handle addressing wetlands, or the addition of railroad spurs or access roads? Some of the reports I’ve seen take into consideration...

Geological Exploration and Evaluation

Geological Exploration & Evaluation Before your project begins, it’s important to explore and evaluate the property in order to identify potential constraints. The presence and location of wetlands, protected species, and cultural resources have the potential to derail the project or result in excessive cost (in the short-term as well as over the long-term). GeoLogic’s team of experts use skill and integrity to find solutions that work for you while maintaining compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations. Why GeoLogic? When you hire GeoLogic, you work with people who have actively explored and surveyed the land–-not just read about it in books. Our team includes engineers, geologists, project scientists, CAD designers, and laboratory technicians, all with years of experience in their fields of study. We analyze the terrain to plan excavations, delineate wetlands, survey habitats, locate and estimate mineral reserves, and evaluate and inspect dams. GeoLogic combines...

What is Geological Exploration

What is Geological Exploration? The Basics of Geological Exploration Geological Exploration is essentially the process of assessing the geological qualities of an area to determine what may be present in the soil and rock. The first step is to perform a desktop review of publicly available datasets, which give an indication of what minerals and rocks may be present in a particular location. Next, it’s necessary to identify where the deposits are located, within a minimal margin of error, via methods such as air track or sonic drilling. After actively exploring an area, you enter a planning phase that focuses more on planning and permitting. Now that you know where the deposits are and have confirmed they are economically viable, what is the ideal route to reach them? After completing the assessment, a geological engineering team can propose one or more plans for mining the area and procuring the resources. Anyone with a stake in nature, either a personal or economic one should...

GeoLogic Celebrates Big Win for Clients: Unanimous Approval!

GeoLogic Celebrates Big Win for Clients: Unanimous Approval! GeoLogic, LLC, announces a big win for their clients, IDI Land Holdings, at a recent Lamar County Board of Commissioners meeting. The proceedings concluded with a unanimous vote to approve two zoning changes, effectively clearing the way for a rock quarry operation to be developed northeast of the intersection of U.S. Highway 41 South and Crawford Road. GeoLogic’s Ben Black, the Geological Engineer for the project, along with Gage Miller of Golder Associates, Greg Poole of Sauls Seismic, Abdul Amer of A&R Engineering, Inc., and Cody Hale of Nutter & Associates, supported the rezoning effort by speaking directly to the concerns of local citizens. The consultants also addressed false information that had been circulated to the local community in an attempt to derail the project. “Congratulations to our clients on their big win at the Board of Commissioners meeting,” says Ben Black, Principal Geological Engineer at GeoLogic....
